One Student! One Chair! 

At first glance - this is a picture of a chair, but it is so much more than that. For the Cuttington University students who will sit in these chairs, they are more than the means by which their education will be fulfilled.

For a young person walking through the Cuttington University campus, chairs serve as a silent but powerful reminder that this can be a place for them. These chairs will enable Cuttington to help shape and empower the future of Africa’s youth population. The Friends ONE STUDENT! ONE CHAIR! appeal frames Cuttington’s recent prestigious recognition by UNESCO with the William R. Tolbert III Chair for Peace, Conflict Resolution, National Healing and National Unity.

In the words of Dr. Romelle Horton, Cuttington’s President, “we are at a point where the demand for a fundamental resource - a chair- is compromising the quality and integrity of our educational delivery. Cuttington students are eager to learn, but classrooms are struggling to accommodate them safely and effectively. Procuring chairs for our students is a direct investment in accessibility and educational divinity.” There are currently almost 3,000 students divided among Cuttington’s three campuses.

Our goal is to raise funds to purchase 250 sturdy, comfortable and appropriate classroom chairs as a first step to replace the deteriorating chairs on campus. Each chair will cost $65.00 US.
